Azal
What is it?
Azal is an antibiotic syrup used to treat bacterial infections in children, including those of the ear, eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, stomach, and intestines.
How does it work?
It stops bacteria from growing and spreading.
How to give it:
- Usually once daily in the morning; for typhoid, twice daily.
- Give with or without food (with food is better for sensitive stomachs).
- If your child vomits within 30 minutes, repeat the dose.
- Use a measuring cup and shake well before use.
When will it work?
Most children start to feel better in 2 days. Finish the full course even if your child feels better.
Common side effects:
- Nausea
- Stomach pain
- Diarrhea
These are usually mild and go away. Contact the doctor if they persist.
Precautions:
Tell the doctor if your child has had liver, kidney, heart problems, or allergies.
Use with caution in liver or severe kidney disease—dose adjustments may be needed.
