Carboplatin Injection

What is Carboplatin and Why is it Prescribed?

Carboplatin is a chemotherapy drug used to treat ovarian cancer and sometimes lung, bladder, breast, brain, and other cancers. It works by slowing or stopping cancer cell growth.


How is it Used?

It is given as an IV (intravenous) injection by a healthcare professional, usually once every 4 weeks.


Precautions Before Use
  • Tell your doctor if you’re allergic to carboplatin or cisplatin, or if you have kidney problems, bleeding disorders, or are pregnant/breastfeeding.
  • List all medications, supplements, or herbs you’re taking.
  • Avoid pregnancy and breastfeeding during treatment.

Common Side Effects
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation
  • Mouth sores, tingling or pain in hands/feet
  • Hair loss, weakness, taste changes

Serious Side Effects (Call Your Doctor)
  • Decreased urination, unusual bleeding/bruising
  • Pale skin, extreme tiredness, fainting
  • Swelling, shortness of breath, vision changes
  • Hearing problems (ringing, hearing loss)
